Welcome to MathPOWER

I cannot believe it!  I am entering high school next year.  I truly believe I would not be where I am today if it were not for MathPower.  It has been a blessing to have attended this program for the past four years.  Near the end of every school year, when everyone started discussing their summer plans, I would hear how some kids would be traveling to Spain, Hawaii, Disney World; or how they were going to a sleep away camp abroad.  I would pitch in to the conversation by talking about my attendance at a math camp for five weeks.  I got some strange looks, and after a moment of silence, my peers typically asked me if I was serious and if I was willingly going or if my mom was forcing me to go.  Yes, I do realize that I am in a math class for four hours, during the summer.  However, that fact is definitely compensated by the clubs and the caring teachers.  What makes each and every single one of the teachers at this camp exceptional is that they are not here for the money.  They are here sacrificing their time because they love children and they want to do everything they can to help as many as they can throughout the summer.  Their authenticity shows whenever they teach.

Besides the new friendships and the outstanding experiences I gain every year, the most beneficial thing I have gained from attending MathPower is confidence.  Knowing that every year, when I walk into my math class, there is no reason for me to be afraid because I have a foundation of the knowledge that will be covered throughout the year.  And I must admit that takes a load off my shoulders.  This afternoon, I just want to thank every single person who had a part in the creation and continuation of MathPower, from director, to the teachers, to the office assistants or anyone else who helped behind the scenes.  You have helped me and so many others in countless ways, and I hope that I have been a blessing to you as you have been to me.  Thank you for giving me the four best summers of my life.
